Monday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Scat’d Showers, Breezy – High 52˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 33˚

6pm 49˚ ~ 9pm 46˚ ~ 12am 40˚ ~ 3am 35˚ ~ 6am 32˚

Scattered showers will continue to pester Bowling Green and the surrounding area through this evening, as a weak cold front propagates east across the region.  The model provided gives you a better idea of what’s exactly taking place:

As this boundary finally passes, lingering precipitation will taper off west to east across our proximity.  As forecast, total rainfall amounts look to range between .25 – 1″ when this is all said and done.

Tues – Iso’d Showers, Breezy – High 52˚ / Tues Night – Wintry Mix to Light Snow – Low 26˚

A low pressure system (alberta clipper) looks to dive southeast out of Canada on Tuesday, which will send an associated cold front southeast toward the region.  Out ahead of this boundary, southwesterly breezes will amp up to 10-20mph.  Combine this with a few rays of sunshine early on, and we’ll be looking at highs returning to the lower 50s for another day.

Things will get interesting on Tuesday night, as the Alberta clipper system propagates east across the Great Lakes.  Isolated/scattered rain showers during the afternoon look to transition to a light, scattered wintry mix as temperature profiles begin to tumble after sunset.  The current data suggests scattered light snow showers will eventually take over during the predawn hours of our Wednesday.  The GFS precip model below is valid from 12pm Tues – 6am Wed in 6 hour increments.  This gives you some idea of how the system may behave:

Moisture parameters still aren’t necessarily what I would call impressive.  Sorry folks, but I won’t be making any calls on potential accumulations until tomorrow morning.  It looks to be minor at best, however, with temperatures falling below freezing, we could be looking at traveling concerns.

Wed – Scat’d AM Snow Showers – High 32˚ / Wed Night – Clear – Low 23˚

We’ll keep scattered snow showers around through mid morning, with lingering moisture filtering out of the area by Wednesday afternoon.  This should give us a mix of sun and clouds to go along with much colder conditions.  Northerly winds filtering in behind the previous night’s disturbance will be responsible for our cold snap.  Highs will be limited to the lower 30s.  Lay the winter clothes back out, folks.

That’s all I’m made of, folks.  Stay connected with me @Wx_Or_Not for more frequent updates.  Have a great evening, and stay dry!
