Rain Chances Arrive

Really...it's just rain.
Really…it’s just rain.

Today – Partly Cloudy, Scat’d Showers – High 73 / Tonight – Showers Likely – Low 60

7am 62 ~ 10am 70 ~ 1pm 73 ~ 4pm 73

Cold front is approaching from the west, which has increased cloud cover across the region.  Southwesterly flow continues to pump moisture over our proximity, which will increase our rain chances as the day progresses.  The most widespread precip is expected to move in tonight.  The model below displays water vapor satellite.  Moisture plume is evident, advecting into the region from our southwest:

Wed – Iso’d AM Showers – High 64 / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 44

7am 60 ~ 10am 63 ~ 1pm 65 ~ 4pm 64

Lingering showers will diminish across south central Kentucky on Wednesday morning, making way to gradual clearing throughout the afternoon. Total rainfall amounts for the event look to range anywhere from .25 – 1.5″. This will all depend on how this setup evolves.

Parameters in place will warrant the possibility of localized areas potentially seeing more. Much cooler air will work in behind the cold front, which will send overnight lows tanking into the low – mid 40s. Brisk westerly winds will give a mild bite to the air as well.

Thu – Iso’d Showers – High 62 / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 43

7am 45 ~ 10am 56 ~ 1pm 60 ~ 4pm 60

A weak disturbance will reintroduce isolated showers to the forecast, with the majority of us remaining dry, under partly sunny skies. Highs will struggle to reach 60 degrees. Lay out those heavy jackets, friends, you’re going to need them.

That will be all for the time being. I’ll return this afternoon with another update on our rain chances.
