Monday Afternoon Update

Monday Evening: Forecast looks to be in ship-shape, folks.  The weak cool front that moved through this morning is now to our south.  This has dried out the atmosphere across south central Kentucky, and should keep us quiet this evening and tonight.  All after-school outdoor activities look to go on uninterrupted.  Surface model below displays the location of the front. 4pm 79 | 9pm 64 | 1am 61

Tuesday: High pressure sliding into the Northeast will supply partly sunny skies across our region.  It will be pleasant.  If you enjoy the outdoors, I recommend getting out and enjoying it.  Dewpoint values will go on the increase Tuesday night into Wednesday, making for a heavy feel to the air. 6am 60 | 12pm 78 | 4pm 81

Wednesday – Friday: Return flow from high pressure advancing off the east coast will begin to advect a warmer, more moist airmass into our proximity.  Weak disturbances will be caught in flow aloft, coinciding with the damp air to fire off isolated – scattered convection through this time frame.  The line graph below displays our dewpoint values over the next 6 days.  Notice the rise through the last half of the work week:

Other than rogue thunderstorm development, expect sunny, hot conditions, with highs in the mid 80s.  High humidity will take heat indexes into the 90s.  A cold front looks to push across our proximity on Friday, which will create our best opportunity at strong storm development.  We’re still 5 days out, so will await another run or so of data to start nailing it down.

As far as the afternoon forecast update is concerned, that’s it.  I’ll be back tomorrow morning with a fresh analysis of the latest data.  If you have questions or comments, please get in touch with me via Facebook or Twitter.  Have a fantastic start to your week, and thanks for relying on ~ Beech Tree Weather!
