Intense Heat is Not Letting Up

Good morning, everyone! I hope you are all doing well as we face the hottest days of the year so far. A little bit of rain sounds good right about now, but it looks like the intense heat is not letting up until the end of this week.

Today’s Details

As you woke up this morning or on your commute to work, you may have noticed there’s a nice layer of fog outside. That will clear within the next hour or so revealing sunny skies for the remainder of the day.

Today follows suit with the pattern we have been in as we can expect to experience hot conditions. The high temperature will reach the mid 90s with the heat index right around 100 degrees.

Overnight, we stay clear with a low of 70 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday

The worst of the heat looks to make its debut on Wednesday and Thursday as the high temperature soars to the upper 90s. This, paired with the humidity, will make it feel as if were 105 degrees at times. Another factor that makes this heat even more intense is the fact that the wind will be very very calm at around 5mph.

Let’s talk about heat safety. Folks, the heat is no joke and can begin affecting you before you even realize it. Heat exhaustion and even heat stroke can happen fast so make sure you are being responsible these next couple of days. Do your outdoor work during the morning and afternoon, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, seek shade or AC often if you must work outdoors. Another thing to remember is to not leave your pets or kids in the car, even if you’re just running in the store to get milk. That’s a big no no.

Slight Relief This Weekend

By the end of this week, the heat finally looks like it will begin to backoff. We will still be seeing highs in the mid to upper 80s, but that is better than the high 90s. On top of this, we reintroduce the chance for pop-ups and scattered showers all weekend long, which is very much needed after this week.

Alright, that concludes today’s post. Thanks for reading and be sure to follow our live weather feed on twitter, @wxornotBG and also on Instagram. Stay cool!
