Active Weather Pattern in the Coming Days

Good Monday morning, y’all! I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed last night’s Super Bowl! Things are starting to get interesting as we enter the new week weather-wise, so be prepared for an active weather pattern in the coming days.

First, A Quiet Start

The sunshine helped yesterday be not-too-bad, even with those chilly temperatures. Those decent conditions look to make it into Monday as temperatures get a little warmer in the wake of a warm front. Highs look to reach the mid 40’s, but that will also come with some clouds.

Partly cloudy conditions will keep things quiet today and overnight as the bulk of the weather remains to our north. Tuesday will feature much of the same conditions with more partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 40’s.

Next, A Rainy End to the Week

As we enter the middle part of the week, things begin to get a little more active. A trough will set up and act as an extension to a stationary front come Wednesday and Thursday. This means disturbances will ride along the boundary and remain in our neck of the woods.

Showers will begin to make their way to us Tuesday night into Wednesday. The bulk of the showers are set to come overnight on Wednesday, though. Highs during the day look to remain mild in the upper 40’s, while overnight lows drop to near freezing.

Because of that, we could see some snow mix in during the morning hours on Thursday. However, as temps rise again, that will transition into sleet and freezing rain before going back to mostly rain. Temperatures stay chilly in the mid 30’s.

Lastly, Cold Temps Incoming?

Looking into the weekend and next week, we could be looking at some downright cold temperatures! The Climate Prediction Center has WABBLES (and most of the nation) seeing below average temperatures during that time.

It’s hard to tell exactly how cold we’ll get this far out, but highs in the 20’s and lows in the teens aren’t out of the picture. Be thankful though, because places like Lincoln, NE could be seeing highs in the single digits, lows in the negatives!

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Enjoy the quiet weather while you can!
