Not bad for a Monday out there yesterday with mild temperatures and plentiful sunshine. Those general conditions should prevail a the week closes in on the halfway mark. We’ll stay sunny and mild before rain returns Thursday.
Terrifically Sunny Tuesday
We’ll start our Tuesday off with clouds thinning as an overnight weather system continues moving out of the area.
Northwesterly winds will help replace the cloud cover with sunshine and slightly cooler temperatures (at least, compared to yesterday) this afternoon.
High temperatures this afternoon should still reach about 55º or so with those sunny skies. It will not be a windy repeat of yesterday as light north winds take control. Those winds should calm down by nightfall, and with clear skies, we should fall back to about 45º.
Similarly Warmer Wednesday
For hump day, we’ll see sunshine from the start, which means a slightly warmer afternoon high temperature.
The models have been doing better, but they still tend to underestimate temperatures in these types of situations. Sunshine should get us up to about 63º tomorrow afternoon…but clouds lurk in the distance.
Clouds will be on the increase late tomorrow night…and we may be able squeeze out a few showers by daybreak. Lows only fall to about 40º.
Thoroughly Soggy Thursday
Yet another strong cold front is poised to blast through the region during the day on Thursday, bringing with it the possibility for heavy rain…
…some quite cold temperatures behind it…and with that the possibility for a touch of wintry mix.
But first, showers should overspread the region during the early morning hours on Thursday, making for a wet commute. Our powerful front will sweep through, turning breezy southwesterly winds into breezy northwesterly winds, knocking us quickly from a high in the middle 50s into the 40s by the evening and the 30s overnight.
The chance for any wintry mix comes if there’s enough moisture remaining once the temperatures in the upper levels plummet below freezing to squeeze out some sleet or snow pellets. That’s still very much up in the air at this point, but it would likely be quite minor and shouldn’t have any additional travel impacts. Either way, we’ll be enjoying a soaker, with some areas posisbly picking up upwards of an inch by Friday morning.
A Chilly Weekend
Post-frontal, the weekend looks chilly but mostly dry. Yes, that means more puffy coat.
A sunny Friday will feature highs only in the low to mid 40s, with lows plummeting close to 25º overnight. 50s return for highs by the weekend, but overnight lows still hover near freezing. Quite, quite appropriate.
