Hot Weekend Ahead then Slight Relief on Monday

Good morning and happy Friday. Hope you are ready for a hot weekend ahead. Don’t be discouraged, slight relief will be coming on Monday to start the next work week.

Currently…

Temperatures are in the high-70s and steady winds are coming from the south, which will contribute to today’s heat and humidity. Little cloud cover is in the sky right now and dry road conditions.

Today, Tomorrow, and Sunday will be HOT

The upper-air charts are showing a pattern called “ridging”. The black zigzag line annotates the ridge axis. The ridging is highlighted by the faster windspeed over the northern portion of the United States. The high pressure system creates a bubble effect on the region beneath it, which leads to hotter conditions.

The National Weather service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the next couple of days, as the same patterns will remain throughout the weekend. Temperatures will increase into the high-90s with heat indices increasing to temperatures as high as 110°F.

Highs in the 90s, sunshine, and added moisture will make for a soupy, uncomfortable environment. Lows will be in the mid-70s after sundown.

Don’t worry, an end to the hot temperatures is coming.

Storms & Rain Expected on Monday

Compared to the previous charts, the ridging is starting to fade away as the winds will start to take on a wavy pattern. That dip in the black lines (isobars) is called a trough, which is caused by a Low-pressure system. Troughs tend to bring rain chances which is exactly what we will have on Monday.

The models are showing the line passing through overnight, however, the timing could change. Make sure to keep updated with this system over the weekend.
