Sunny Midweek, But Change is Coming

I’m sure y’all are happy Spring is finally here. The trees are beginning to bud, and flowers are blossoming. Even the cheery trees around WKU are beautiful this time of year.

The forecast has been consistent for a few days, and the sunshine will continue. But temperatures will be warming up slightly.

Wednesday Forecast

For today, calm winds will be out of the southwest. Clear blue skies will dominate again today. The maximum temperature for yesterday was 53ºF, but luckily we will get warmer than that today.

High temperatures will top out this afternoon around 60ºF – 63ºF. Temperatures tonight won’t be dropping as cold as last night, but should be in the range of 39ºF – 42ºF.

Thursday Forecast

Tomorrow will start out just as beautiful as the previous days of this week. Clouds will be present, but skies should remain mostly sunny. Temperatures will max out in the ballpark of 70ºF. Southwest winds will be stronger tomorrow, around 10-15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph possible.

Overnight temperatures will drop to around 48ºF – 50ºF. I have sad news though. Rain chances arrive during the overnight/early Friday morning hours. Rain showers should remain light. The GFS currently hints at rain knocking on the door of our western counties by 1 AM.

Hit or Miss Showers on Friday

Similar to Thursday, high temperatures on Friday should hit the neighborhood of 70ºF. Winds will predominately be out of the south, which will help raise temperatures. A few hit or miss showers will be possible through the day as the associated cold front tries to squeeze out some measurable rainfall.

Again, any rainfall should remain light, and measurements should be low. Temperatures Friday night should bottom out around 54ºF.

More Rain on the Way for Saturday

Our greatest chance for showers comes Saturday afternoon. The GFS shows moderate rain over our area at 1 pm on Saturday.

Saturday will still be warm, with temperatures to top out around 68ºF. We will be located south of the cold front, which is why we have rain chances. Once the cold front passes, skies will clear and temperatures will be much cooler.

The low temperatures for Saturday night will be a brisk 35ºF. This leads to Sunday’s forecast.

Sunday Forecast

After the cold front passage, skies will become quiet once again. Sunny skies will dominate, but this time with much cooler high temperatures. Expect temperatures to only get to 49ºF. Sunday night will also be quite cold. Low temperatures will drop to around 30ºF.

After temperatures in the 70s, temperatures in the 50s will feel like this. (Giphy)
