Good Sunday morning everyone! Hope y’all have had a fantastic weekend so far. Today is looking gloomy, as a wintry mix is expected before winter rears its ugly head.
Sadness Sunday
Folks, do you remember last Sunday when it was *66ºF* for the high? Do you remember? I am having a tough time right now.
It is currently in the mid and upper 30s across the region, and with northerly winds pushing a cold air mass into the region, I don’t think we’re gonna move much today.
Temperatures will fall from the upper 30s (where they are now) into the lower 30s this evening as a very strong and cold area of High Pressure rock and rolls into the plains behind this surface low to our south.
This is where things get interesting. Rainfall is currently to our south in TN, and is moving east-northeast. The northern part of this shield of precip is expected to move into the region this afternoon.
With temperatures the way they are, expect a rain and snow mix until temperatures can fall into the mid and lower 30s. Light accumulations under an inch are expected, but still take it easy if you are out and about in the snow.
Temps will fall quickly overnight, with lows ending up in the low to mid 20s. Expect a few slick spots to hang around, so keep that in mind tomorrow as well.
Much Nicer Monday and Tuesday
Well, nicer in that it will at least be sunny!
Temperature wise…that is a completely different story. To be blunt, the temperatures over the next couple of days will royally suck considering we are in March.
Both Monday and Tuesday are staring at highs in the low and mid 30s within a northerly flow regime. The surface high is expected to park itself across the plains and only slowly move east, keeping us quite cold through the beginning of the week.
BUT clouds will be limited, and sunshine abundant. There may be some partly cloudy skies develop Tuesday afternoon, but overall, the next couple of days look nice. You may just need a jacket… or two when you head to work (lows in the lower teens).
Expect temperatures to begin warming a bit on Wednesday, with Thursday and Friday really seeing a jump in temps as southerly flow returns.
Our next major weather maker is expected to roll in next weekend. But you know the drill; there is a looooot of time to think about that one.
Be safe out there today folks! While we aren’t expecting major accumulations, snow should still create slick spots on the roads. Follow @wxornotBG on Twitter for the latest!
