Temperatures are in the mid-teens with a slight northern wind. The added winds will create wind chill temperatures in single digits. Snow is still on the ground, however, road conditions should be dry. It is important to drive safe and keep your distance during your cold morning commute.

MLK Day will be Cold

The temperature will rise into the low-30s and the skies will be partly cloudy throughout the day.

A high-pressure system is moving into the area and will be here to stay for a few days. This will allow the ground to dry out until the next system hits later on in the week. Winds will start to shift from the north to the south tonight and the temperature will drop into the high-20s.

Warm-Up on Tuesday

Tomorrow is going to warm up due to the southern shift in wind direction. That high-pressure system will be to our east, having those clockwise winds draw in some heat from the South. The temperature is going to warm up into the low-50s and the sun will continue to shine throughout the day.

According to the graph (above), tomorrow night’s lowest temperature will be low-20s, which will take place the morning of Tuesday. The little heat up will cause the temperatures to rise during the day and increase the range of temperatures for tomorrow night.

Precipitation Likely on Wednesday

Wednesday is going to be wet.

You can see that today’s high-pressure system will not last long, as low-pressure is expected to take over by Wednesday. The cold front extending from the low will create heavy rain chances, and possibly snow. Temperatures will also plummet into those below-freezing temperatures. As the temperatures drop, the snow accumulations will pick up. The high temperature will increase into the low-40s and the lowest temperature will decrease into the mid-20s.

Cold Start and Snowy End to the Week

The drop in temperatures will create some solid snow chances by Thursday and Friday. The precipitation chances will continue into the weekend, as well. This weather system may change its track and strength by Wednesday, so make sure to keep updated by tuning back in for tomorrow’s forecast. Also, refer to our live update on Twitter @wxornotBG.
