Good Sunday morning, folks! I hope that everyone has had a fantastic first full week of January. The gloomy weather hangs on another day around these parts, which is not fun.
Bleh Sunday
Do you all remember how nice last Sunday was? I do. It was sunny and warm outside. One week later? It is just the opposite.
Showers and drizzle chances will hang on underneath some thick cloud cover throughout the day across the region. This will make for the perfect staying-inside-and-doing-nothing kind of Sunday, but I am personally sick of the clouds.
Temperatures this morning are in the lower 40s, and they aren’t expected to move too much all day. The high will likely only be a degree or two higher than what we’re at now.
Clouds may begin to thin a bit as we approach sundown this evening, but that won’t make much difference in your day. Overall, the 517th gloomy weekend since last summer.
Mundane Monday
GUESS WHAT? We’re gonna be locked into clouds again on Monday!
Folks, sometimes it just feels never endings. Clouds get locked into place, and keep us much cooler than we would be otherwise. It is just depressing at this point.
Temperatures look to get into the mid 30s at best for highs. Definitely send the kids to school with a coat, because it is gonna be real chilly. The clouds won’t make it feel any better.
Whatever. Maybe the clouds will clear up by the evening time, but I don’t see that happening.
Can we Clear Out on Tuesday?
This is the magical question, and I think we may finally get our wish. Maybe.
The big issue that we are having is that above the surface, temperatures are warming with height, and that is keeping the lower levels of the atmosphere saturated. This will be locking us into clouds Sunday and then on Monday.
Some models indicate this finally breaking, while a couple show it staying in place. I lean towards the clouds breaking by the afternoon hours. Winds will shift to the west and southwest, which should help us warm up and break the pesky clouds.
Highs Tuesday will depend on cloud coverage. If they break, look for mid 40s. If they don’t, upper 30s.
Long Term Talk
Either way, Wednesday looks to be a pretty nice day across the region. The sun should return, and we should begin to warm up as we head into the latter portion of the week. Clouds will increase again on Thursday, and look for shower chances that day.
By Friday, we’ll be staring at our next major weather event. Right now, there are a lot of unknown details. It does look like it won’t be a winter event, but it could bring heavy rainfall and maybe a round of strong storms.
Behind it, the models are indicating some of our coldest air of the season thus far, but we will see. I label myself as skeptical right now.
Well, that is all I have folks! Have a fantastic Sunday, and be sure to follow @wxornotBG on Twitter and Facebook for the latest information.
