Gloomy Weekend Upcoming (Again)

Good Friday to you all! Hope everyone’s week has been great and filled with Christmas Cheer. We have a gloomy weekend upcoming (again), so batten down the hatches and expect to not see the sun for a few days.

Well, at Least its Friday

Yes, that is the best way to look at it, because the weather doesn’t exactly look pleasant.

As I write this (Thursday night), rainfall is already moving into the region from the south ahead of a strong area of low pressure across Texas. Expect this to be around when you read this (Friday morning) as you head to work and school.

This system will slowly move northeastward over the coming days, keeping clouds and rain chances around daily. Expect clouds to be thick today, but with breezy southeasterly flow, temperatures should get pretty warm. Look for highs in the mid and upper 50s.

Rainfall will be widespread throughout the day, but don’t expect it to be a complete washout. You should see intermediate breaks in the rain.

Stagnant Saturday and Sunday

As the slow moving low pressure system approaches the region from the southwest this weekend, we will continue to see copious cloud cover and rain chances remain. The highest rain chances should last through Saturday morning.

As the low pressure system approaches, expect us to remain in southeasterly flow. Rain chances will decrease as we head towards midday Saturday, as a “dry slot” works its way into our region.

The odds of it giving any significant breaks in clouds are low, but the dry slot should give us a break in the precipitation chances as the low pressure system moves overhead. h/t COD Weather

This may even help us to see a few breaks in the clouds, but don’t expect much. With the approaching of the low will come a passing of an occluded/cold front, cooling us down Saturday afternoon and into Sunday.

Highs will be in the mid 50s for highs midday Saturday before we tumble into the mid 40s by Saturday evening. Expect shower chances to increase again Saturday afternoon and evening.

Sunday looks chilly, breezy, and cloudy again, as we’ll be on the backside of the low. This should keep highs in the upper 40s, which will just be the icing on the “bleh” weather cake this weekend.

We may see some sunshine by Sunday evening, but the sun is expected to return to the forecast by Monday, a nice way to start the last week before Christmas!
