Some Rain and Snow for the Week

Good morning and happy Monday! Hope you all enjoyed the weather over the weekend. While it was a tad chilly out, the weather was sunny and beautiful. We are expecting some rain and snow for the week and a brief, sunny break by midweek.

Currently…

Today we are starting off with clear commute conditions for the most part. You may see some flurries here and there. Temperatures are in the low-40s.

That won’t last too long; rain is on its way. A system will be making its way from south-central US through the southeast portion of the country.

That Darn Low-Pressure System

The HRRR model is showing widespread rainfall for our area from mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Light rainfall may take place after, but nothing of a concern.

Quantitative Precipitation Forecast for our area is expected to be anywhere from 0.01 - 0.25 inches of rain (NWS)

Colder temperatures are going to take place throughout the atmosphere, making way for cold rain. Wear that rain jacket with some layers under it. Today is looking to be cold and wet. The highest temperature will top out in the mid-40s, then bottom out in the low-30s tonight.

Tomorrow is Looking Colder

You may wake up to a dusting of snow on the ground tomorrow morning. Depending on how low temperatures drop, some areas in South-central Kentucky may accumulate some snow. This Tuesday is going to be cloudy and cold. Temperatures are expected to stay in the high-30s all day then decrease into the low-20s as the night approaches. NAM is calling for cloud cover (blue values) all day.

Break in Clouds & Rain on Hump Day

Looks like the two days of gloominess will come to an end by Wednesday. We will start seeing those blue skies and sunshine again. Temperatures are not going to heat up that much, as the high is expected to hit right around 40°. Enjoy the sunny weather while it lasts, because snow chances increase by nightfall on Wednesday. The temperatures are expected to decrease below the freezing temperature into the low-30s.

Rest of the Week

Thursday will bring some more rain or snow chances for this week. However, things are going to clear up just in time for the weekend.  High temperatures will warm up just a little bit on Friday through Sunday. Then Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

That is all I have for today. Expect some rain and snow for the next couple of days. Have a great week and take that heavier rain jacket with you, the weather is expected to be cold and wet.

Cold, damp & dreary today, with a few snowflakes possible tonight; another chance at snow later this week.Details in this morning's Final Finish weather update:
