Hey folks! Hope everyone is doing great today, and is having a great week overall. We have had a chilly couple of days, and today looks to continue that pattern. A chilly and breezy day will give way to a rainy forecast as we go over the next few days.

Feels Like Winter

We have to remember that we are still technically in Winter. It will still be winter for another 12 days! Today will be one of the days that truly feels like it.

As we get into this morning and early afternoon, expect partly to mostly clouds skies to dominate again, much like yesterday. We should be seeing some puffy cumulus clouds taking up much of the sky this afternoon.

Folks, we are just simply looking cold outside today. Grab that jacket and warm hat, as a stiff northwesterly breeze will make our 39°F high feel way worse.

We may see an isolated snow flurry, much like yesterday, but don’t expect anything significant.

Rain…and maybe some snowflakes?

This could really apply to the weekend system to, but I’ll address that in a little bit. Before anything, Friday morning is looking coooold. You should be leaving your house with temps around 27°F.

We are looking at a quick hitting system Friday morning and early afternoon that may genuinely make our weather a bit more interesting than previously expected.

The models have just picked up on this the past couple of runs, but it makes sense based on the large scale features present. The reason that I think we could see some light snow out of this Friday is because there will be dry air in place ahead of it.

Once the precip starts falling, it may change us over to snow through cooling by evaporation. Some of the hi-res models are showing this occurring, but just to our north.

The 3km NAM expects the rain to change to snow just to our north. h/t pivotalweather.com

Either way, this likely won’t impact your Friday too much in either direction. It would just be pretty snow. Highs are expected to jump into the lower 40s.

Weekend System is Uncertain

Heading into the weekend, the one thing that I can say with confidence is that we’re looking at quite the rainy period of time.

We are expecting anywhere from 0.75-1.25″ of rain. h/t WPC

It won’t be long after the rain/snow mix moves out of here on Friday that more rain begins to approach in association with the next low pressure system. We’ll be on the cold side of the system.

The GFS model places us within the cold sector of a strong low pressure system this weekend. h/t COD Weather

…and that is about as much detail as we have. The models are all over the place with respect to temperatures, timing, precipitation amount, etc. This weekend system is all over the place.

What does this mean for you? Well, the weekend doesn’t look to be a for sure rain out yet. Sunday does look quite rainy, but even that is a bit uncertain. Just know that it will stay cool, and rain more this weekend.

Overall, I can’t see us picking up more than 1.25″ of rain, so that is a plus! Highs this weekend will likely be in the mid and upper 40s.
