More Rain and a Chance of Storms this Weekend

Flood Advisory Expired 5:15 a.m.

After heavy rains overnight, a Flood Advisory was issued since several roads in Allen County had minor flooding, so take your time on the morning commute and watch for ponding.  This is only the beginning of our forecast for more rain and a chance of storms this weekend.

Morning Showers Today

Between one and two inches of rain fell in heavy bands over south-central Kentucky last night which caused the minor flooding.  Once the main line moves east of Barren County around 8 a.m., very scattered showers are expected to continue until midday.

Temperatures today will rise from near 50 in the morning to 60 by the evening with light winds.  Even so, humidity values will remain high through Sunday with all the rain, so expect some bad hair days.

More Rain Tomorrow (and Saturday)

Friday will feature yet more rain.  Showers will become heavier and come more often towards the afternoon.  The temperatures will continue to climb into the low 70’s by Friday afternoon.

Saturday the temps will start near 60 again before steadily exalting to the upper 70’s by the evening.  Hit and miss showers are possible in the morning and afternoon before the unwelcome arrival of more rain.

Severe Storm Chance Saturday Night

The confidence in a line of thunderstorms barging through our region on Saturday night has increased since yesterday.  Some of these storms may be severe primary with the threat of strong wind gusts with a chance of an isolated tornado.

Even if storms do not reach the officially defined “severe” limits, their lightning can always be dangerous… sometimes even future changing.  Therefore, you should stay tuned for further updates on this approaching event.
