Rain should completely exit the region over the next couple of hours. This will leave us with mostly cloudy skies and highs topping out around 45°. We’ll gradually see southwest winds shift to out of the northwest. Kind of a “bleh” day on tap for the region.
A few snow showers or flurries may be possible this evening, around 5 to 8 PM. No accumulation is expected. Overnight lows will drop to around 18° under partly cloudy skies. Northwest winds will make it feel closer to 10° though.
Cold Monday
High pressure will move into the region on Monday. This will lead to fair conditions and mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will remain quite chilly, only topping out around 37°.
High pressure will move to the east of the region Monday evening. This will allow for some southerly flow to return to the region. This may bring enough moisture to cause some light rain and snow showers Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Lows will drop to around 32°.
Tricky Tuesday Forecast
A tricky forecast takes shape on Tuesday. While surface flow will be out of the east and shifting out of the north throughout the day, low level flow will be out of the southwest. This will lead to warmer temperatures aloft and colder temperatures at the surface.
A frontal boundary may stall to the south of the region, leading to heavy rain. If the freezing line dips a bit farther south, freezing rain will become a concern in later forecasts. Right now, we’re just forecasting a cold rain as highs will likely warm into the low 40s.
Showers will remain in place Tuesday night as lows drop into the mid 30s. Again, this could change in later forecasts, so stay tuned.
