Wind Chill Advisory
Valid: Now – 12pm Tuesday, January 2nd
Much of south central Kentucky is still under a Wind Chill Advisory that lasts until Tuesday. This is dangerous cold, so remember to take the necessary precautions to keep those pipes safe as well as keeping pets indoors and warm. It’s also not a bad idea to check on the elderly and those living by themselves, I’m sure they’d appreciate the gesture.
Arctic Start to New Year
As of 6:40am, Bowling Green is sitting at a balmy 3° with a wind chill of about -6°. If you are one of the lucky souls who has to go to work this morning, bundle up (and good luck).
Despite sunshine and mostly clear skies, our temperatures will once again struggle to make it out of the middle and upper teens today. Not to mention, those wind chill values will be hovering near 0-5°F. This is thanks to an arctic high pressure that relentlessly pulls in colder Canadian air from our north.
Heading into tonight, our frigid temperatures will continue with the potential of being the coldest evening we’ve seen so far this season. Temperatures will be hanging around the 0-3° mark with wind chills nearing -10°.
Get Used to the Cold…
If you’re not a fan of the cold, well I’ve got some bad news for you. It’s not going anywhere any time soon. Tuesday features yet another bitterly cold day with highs reaching the low twenties. Much of this week will feature temperatures that are 15-20 degrees below average for this time of ear. Happy New Year?
