Rain Wednesday; Wind + Storms Friday

We’ve been fortunate to enjoy a dry start to the week, but that’s about to change.

Clouds will increase tonight, with hit & miss rain showers arriving by mid morning Wednesday, as shown by the HRRR below.

Coverage will only increase into the afternoon.

Early morning temperatures in the upper 30s will top out ~58˚ Wednesday afternoon. Total rainfall expected: .10″-.25″

Quiet Thursday into Friday

Quiet weather takes over Thursday into Friday. Thursday will be cold, with highs in the low 50s, before recovering nicely to the low 60s Friday.

Friday will be extremely windy ahead of a cold front, with gusts possibly exceeding 30-35 mph. You’ve been warned.

Friday night into Saturday morning, things will get interesting. A powerful weather system will pull a cold front through the region, bringing widespread showers and storms along with it.

Widespread severe weather is not anticipated, however, we could see a few cells meet criteria, with severe wind (wind > 58 mph) being the main concern.

Given the setup, we won’t experience much thunder and lightning. The majority of rain will come behind the cold front. We call this an “Anafront” in the weather world. See the diagram below:

Cold air surges in behind this cold front, setting us up for a cool, quiet end to the weekend. Sunday highs look to stay contained to the mid 40s This will continue into early next week.
