Storms Moving Across Region
Storms have been moving across the region since about 12:30 this afternoon. As of now, none of the storms have been severe. Heavy rain, lightning, and occasional gusty winds are the main threats.
At 3:25 PM an outflow boundary was noted moving through Logan County. This may provide the lift needed for additional showers and storms to form as it moves south.
This Evening
Thunderstorms are expected to diminish in the early evening as the sun sets and temperatures drop a few degrees. The best chance for evening thunderstorms may be to the north of the region. Mostly cloudy skies should remain in place as the low drops to around 74°.
Tomorrow
A more substantial thunderstorm threat should materialize on Thursday. A cold front will approach the region from the west, leading to widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
An isolated strong to severe storm can’t be ruled out thanks to abundant instability. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region in a “marginal” risk of severe weather. Think of this as a level 1 out of 5 threat. Isolated damaging wind will be the main threat.
Outside of thunderstorms, conditions are expected to be hot and muggy. Afternoon highs should top out around 90° before thunderstorms move into the region. Temperatures will feel closer to 100° thanks to some thick humidity.
That should wrap up this update. Be sure to follow @wxornotBG and @WKUweather for the latest Bowling Green weather information. Have a great evening!
