The Headline
This is obvious at this point. The headline for today is no doubt how nice this weather is, and how much longer we can keep it.
Alluding to my title, we can only keep this until about Tuesday afternoon. I know, I apologize. But like any real vacation, this weather vacation will have to end and we will have to arrive back in reality.
We are still within the grip of a relatively strong trough to our east, and that should keep our flow northwesterly, which is what you want for cooler weather (typically; not always, though).
The surface high that is affecting us will direct winds from the north and northeast today, allowing us to stay pretty cool at the surface. We can expect temps much like yesterday!
Tomorrow and Tuesday will gradually warm things up, but especially Tuesday. Atmospheric flow slackens a bit, and we really just return to the mean (which isn’t very fun).
At least tomorrow will be nice, though. I am not expecting us to hit 90 either day, but the moisture and humidity will return Tuesday afternoon.
Just as a preface to the rest of the week: it is looking like storms and a major cool down will be the headlines this week heading into next weekend. Just a teaser to tell you: we will get cool again.
The Forecast
Today: Partly cloudy. Highs around 84°F. Overnight, look for mostly clear skies, with lows around 63°F.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy, with highs around 87°F. Overnight, look for mostly clear skies again, with lows around 65°F.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy, with widely isolated storms. Highs around 88°F. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows around 66°F.
The Decisions
Y’all gotta get outside and enjoy this weather. I mean, this isn’t the nicest weather we have had this summer, but it is definitely up there with some of the nicest that we have had.
Plus, how many of you actually wanted to leave your air conditioned house to do anything during the stretch of ridiculous heat we had?
Yeah, thats what I thought. Today would be a picture perfect day to start and finish yard work, and then to end the evening off with a nice steak on the grill. Or, you could spend the afternoon fishing, running, playing basketball in the driveway, etc. The possibilities are endless!
