Yesterday’s Weather
Yesterday, while cooler than the weekend, was still really nice. I mean, I could get used to these nice days in February! I’m really just hoping that this is gradually increasing water temps around the region, as I am ready to get out and fish some local streams! Either way, the weather recently has been extremely nice temperature wise.

Discussion
Well, we are now just a bit cooler than we had been. I mean, I guess the 40s aren’t anywhere close to the 60s, so we have finally hit a seasonable temperature range today and tomorrow. However, that shouldn’t last long as we head into the end of the work week. Lets dive on in!
Today, we have a progressive trough of low pressure moving southeastward towards our east. To our south, there is another defined trough of low pressure quickly moving eastward, as well. We are stuck right in between, which makes our rain chances weird for the day. Forcing only goes so far north, as the trough to our north propagates southeastward.
It shouldn’t be a washout, but we’ll receive some nice rainfall! Sites to our west in western KY and eastern Missouri have been recording no more than 0.05″ of precip. I wouldn’t expect more than 0.25″ today, and I think we’ll be lucky to see that.
Also: Happy Valentine’s Day! Don’t let this gloomy day ruin your date night or whatever you have planned! Or, if you do, you can wait for the weekend, which in all honesty looks better weather wise right now.
Highs today will be cooler, only staying in the mid 40s. That trend will last into tomorrow, as northerly flow shifts into the region, and advects a cooler and drier airmass into the region. By tomorrow, clouds will be clearing and everything! The sun will be out for a while, and isn’t that just exciting!?
The rest of the time period through Thursday looks extremely boring, which is good because that effectively (in this case) means sunshine. If it meant anything else, I would rant about it. Tomorrow’s highs will likely land in the lower 40s, and Thursday’s highs look to rebound into the low 50s.
Now, looking ahead a bit, we are likely gonna be looking at a wind shift heading into Friday. Southwesterly flow looks to commence, and thus warming temperatures. This looks (right now) to lead to a nice and warm weekend. While we may have some rain to deal with by Saturday night or Sunday, we at least are looking at warmth.
Today’s Key Points
- Gloomy Valentine’s Day
- Rain most of the day, cloudy when it isn’t raining
- Cooler today and tomorrow; temps in the 40s
- Rebounding temps from Thursday into the weekend
