Upper level ridging will move into the region today. This, alongside southerly surface flow will lead to warming temperatures across the region. Afternoon highs will likely reach the low to mid 60s. A batch of rain associated with a warm front will lift north today, leading to showers in the area around the noon hour. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm will persist into the overnight hours as moisture amounts continue to rise.

A shortwave trough will begin to move into the region on Tuesday. This will lead to continued rain and thunderstorm chances. Some of these storms may be strong to severe with damaging wind and large hail being the main concerns. However, there is a bit of directional shear in the atmosphere, leading to a low, but nonzero tornado threat. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region in a “slight” risk of severe weather on Tuesday. Highs may top out around 70°!
