Holy moly, Bowling Green Weather yesterday was cold…y. Our low yesterday morning was absolutely brutal. Bowling Green fell down to 16ºF yesterday morning and only made it up to 28ºF degrees. Brrr!

Forecast Discussion
Buckle up, because Bowling Green Weather is about to get interesting. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and start with today’s forecast. Today’s the “day between” major weather stories around here. Yesterday was very cold and tomorrow’s gonna be very warm (and then get very cold), today’s just kinda “meh”.
We’ll warm up ahead of the system that’s going to bring us some heavy rain tomorrow. After a sunny day yesterday, we’re going to see clouds on the increase today as the system moves closer.
The rain arrives along a warm front that will give our temperatures quite the boost, with mid-60s expected, a full 50 degrees warmer than just 48 hours previous…and it gets even weirder.
Once we’re in the warm sector of this storm, the rain will be coming down and coming down hard. It’s not out of the question that we might see some thunder with this system tomorrow afternoon and evening. Behind the rain is a cold front that’s going to drop the bottom out of our temperatures.
Here’s where the interesting part comes in…depending on how fast the moisture moves out tomorrow night, we might see a little bit of wintry mix or snow on the back side of the storm. I would like to stress that this is not expected to be a major event when it comes to totals or anything like that. As Pierce mentioned on Wednesday evening: “this event does not look to be significant. It does have the potential to be impactful” and that’s the key here. We’re not talking about a lot of winter weather but what little we do get could have an impact, especially since we haven’t had to deal with any travel issues from winter weather since February.
The models are currently showing this as some sleet but there’s a possibility that it could be snow or freezing rain. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait until the system is on our doorstep before we’re sure exactly what precip mode we’ll see but I think a likely scenario has us seeing just a little bit of everything.
Thanks to our warm ground from Saturday, this shouldn’t be too big of a deal other than some wet roads but it is something to keep an eye on through the next 36 hours as this moves closer. After the front finally passes Saturday night into Sunday morning…it gets cold again. Really cold.
Thanks to the front, we’ll start the day cloudy but we’ll gradually clear out and cool way down. We may not even make it out of the 20s on Sunday afternoon…this just 24 hours after a high in the mid-60s. Wild stuff.
