Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was the beginning of another really, really boring week of weather this week. Skies were fairly sunny, and clouds were few and far between. It was just the first in a few days of monotonous weather this week.

Discussion

When I mentioned that this week is going to be boring weatherwise, I wasn’t kidding.

The overall set up over the next few days will feature a large scale ridge extending from the south-central US into the Ohio Valley. This ridge is anomalously strong over Texas right now, but it looks to weaken overall, but expand a bit eastward as we move through this forecast period.

This will expand above average temperatures across the majority of the southern and eastern US. Locally, the ridge looks to place itself over top of us, and not really do anything interesting over the next five or so days.

What will this do? It is gonna create some really, really boring weather conditions. I mean, I looked through the models this morning and it just made me sad. I feel like I have spent the past two months forecasting for relatively malign weather, which isn’t bad. But it does get monotonous.

Overall, the week shouldn’t be too bad. The region saw a decent but of rainfall on Saturday, so that will keep us from seeing a warmer forecast, as the ground isn’t as dry as it was previously. Highs through the forecast period should be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Overnights will feature mostly clear skies, with lows in the mid 60s. Good news: dewpoints shouldn’t get past the mid 60s this week!

Extended Outlook

The extended looks convoluted and boring. The weather may remain about as boring as it is now for the next 5-6 days or so. The models really drop off into solution consistency after that, so it is difficult to get a grip on what may happen beyond that. However, expect boring and warm conditions to remain through the weekend.
