Discussion
This is essentially a consistency forecast, as nothing in the forecast guidance this morning has changed what I saw yesterday.
This is going to be a veeeeery boring forecast across not only southern KY, but the majority of the Tennessee Valley. This is largely due to a strong ridge of high pressure that is building over these areas.
This will build and basically remain over the region from this afternoon through at least Saturday afternoon. The ridge will build and just sit over us, preventing us from seeing much, if any, in the way of thunderstorms. Much warmer temperatures look likely, though. Through our forecast period this morning, the weather looks the same, and thus the short Discussion section. From today through Thursday, temperatures look to reach into the 90s, with humid conditions returning as well.
With dewpoints in the 70s across this timespan as well, you can expect it to be fairly oppressive across the region.
Other than the heat and humidity…there is absolutely nothing that I see of interest until Saturday.
Extended Outlook
As I mentioned, Saturday is the day that I expect us to see a decent threat at some isolated to scattered thunderstorms. The forecast guidance is hinting at a break in the ridge, which would allow for shortwaves to rotate through and affect us, forcing scattered thunderstorms across the region. Other than that, the ridge should continue to dominate through early next week. This should keep temps elevated across the region in the long term.
