Forecast Discussion
First of all, I hope all students have a great upcoming semester! Second of all, I can’t think of better weather to begin the semester! This weather is simply going to be amazing the next couple of days!
A trough will be exiting the east coast region during the first couple of days of the forecast period, while a ridge begins to build to the south of the region. The trough brings northerly flow to the region, while the ridge brings southerly, return flow to the region.
This, combined with surface high pressure settling in across the region on Today and Tuesday, will bring fair conditions those days. No rainfall is expected and conditions should remain mild under mostly sunny skies!
A few disturbances will try to make their way into the region on Wednesday. However, it seems as though upper level ridging may be a bit too strong to for these disturbances to survive. Thus, in the forecast summary, I simply chose to go with partly cloudy skies. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if the forecast changes to include isolated showers and storms.
Extended Outlook
According to the Climate Prediction Center, our temperatures look to swing back above normal due to the ridging that will be in place, and overall southerly flow aloft. Above normal precipitation will also look to continue despite our surplus of 5.11″ of rainfall thus far this year.
That should wrap up this forecast. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WKUweather for the latest Bowling Green weather information. Have a great first day of the semester WKU!
