As indicated by the National Weather Service’s Daily Climate Report, we definitely felt the moisture in the air. Our temperatures for this time have been a little lower than normal, due to cloud cover and daytime precipitation. If you’re looking for a silver lining in the clouds, I guess our below average temperatures could be yours! (Too bad that “below average temps” are considered 90 degrees!)

Today: Scattered thunderstorms with highs near 91°. Overnight, expect diminishing isolated thunderstorms with lows around 75°.

Discussion

It looks like we’re in for a stormy next couple of days. Much like the past few days, we could again see scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region. As we destabilize into the afternoon due to atmospheric heating, our chances for thunderstorms will increase. Any storms that we do see are likely to produce heavy rainfall due to the high moisture content of this airmass we are under. These storms look to be isolated, so flash flooding should be limited for today, but be careful in case it does become an issue.

 Friday looks to be very similar to today, with scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region. Again, any storms we see will likely produce heavy rainfall; however, flash flooding shouldn’t be an issue due to the widespread nature of these storms.pwatfri

There is a ridge located to our east with a mid-level trough axis swinging in from the northern Plains. This ridge axis looks to break down a little over the weekend, allowing that aforementioned trough axis to head our way. As this happens, our thunderstorm chances look to pick up over the weekend.nam500fri

Overall, temperatures are gonna hang out around the 90 degree mark under partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will dip into the low to mid 70’s across the region.

Extended Outlook

The Climate Prediction Center has us within normal temperatures for this time of year, but above average precipitation for the region over the 6-10 time period.
