Forecast Discussion

The rinse and repeat forecast may actually not be the case for this forecast period. Some ridging is breaking down and being replaced with some troughiness in the upper atmosphere. The break in copy and paste forecasting is nice.

Today, the ridge will be solidly in place across the region. This means hot, humid conditions will persist across the region. Isolated air mass thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon and evening hours, though these should remain widespread.

A weak trough will develop across the area on Thursday. This will lead to a higher chance of precipitation as a weak upper level low will spin over the region. A large thunderstorm complex may be possible as well, although the paths of large complexes are hard to predict until they form.

Ridging will move back into the region on Friday which will hinder precipitation chances on Friday. However, low rainfall chances means conditions will once again be hot across the region. Some models have temperatures getting as high as the mid 90s, however I think we’ll stick to the low 90s across the region.

Long Term Outlook

According to the Climate Prediction Center, above normal temperatures can be expected for the following week, as well as slightly above normal precipitation. Who’s ready for fall? Because, I sure am…
