Fairly Calm Bowling Green Weather on the Way

Real time Bowling Green Weather Radar

Yesterday’s Weather

Well, for the most part yesterday, we avoided everything crazy. We avoided The storms that turned northeastward yesterday morning to completely miss us and take heavy rain and damaging winds that way. When storms formed to our west early yesterday afternoon? They weakened and effectively died. We were destined to avoid a complex of storms!

Until we weren’t. A complex of thunderstorms formed over northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, and moved eastward towards us. A cold pool developed behind the initial line of thunderstorms, allowing for it to develop into a strong MCS as it shifted into southern KY and middle Tennessee. Luckily, we missed the brunt of this system, but middle Tennessee was hit hard by it.

Discussion

Is this real life? I mean, its been stormy every since…forever?

Not necessarily that, but there was a point this week where I wanted to round of all of southern KY so that we could go and get that ark in northern Kentucky. I’m incredibly excited to the point that I will do this discussion in GIFs.

I am just so excited. A strong shortwave moved to our east yesterday, placing us within favorable northwesterly flow. At the surface, northerly and northwesterly flow will be established on the backside of a cold front. This will allow for higher temps and moisture content to be pushed to the south, leaving us with great weather.

Its likely to be partly cloudy today, with highs in the mid and upper 80s. A day without a high chance of storms got me like…

Overnight tonight, we’ll likely see mostly clear skies, with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Tomorrow looks just as nice.

How exciting is this? There have been parts of this region devastated by flooding, but having consistent threats of, and occurrences of wind damage have added insult to injury for many. It has been a tough week across the board.

That is why I am excited about this forecast. Tomorrow, we’ll be under continued influence from a modified, drier air mass, and a surface high pressure system. Look for highs in the mid 60s with mostly sunny skies, and a few clouds.

Yes, you have every right to jump with joy at this weekend’s forecast. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows in the mid 60s.

Monday’s weather won’t be as nice, but I mean, how do you get much nicer than this weekend after last week’s weather?

It’ll be warmer, and dewpoints will be higher on Monday, giving us the threat for isolated thunderstorms during Monday afternoon. I don’t think this threat is widespread or very high, but an isolated storm cannot be ruled out. Highs will be in the lower 90s.

Extended Outlook

Looking out at the extended outlook, a strong ridge looks to move into the region Tuesday-Thursday, which will likely bring fairly hot weather to the region. Beyond that, the CPC is forecasting a high chance of above average temperatures across the region in the 6-10 day outlook, with above average precip.
