Discussion

The main part of this discussion will be the passing of a cold front and how this will change the weather for the better across the region!

Today, a longwave trough will continue to move towards the region. The trough will completely swing through the region during the overnight hours. This will provide us with enough lift for a few isolated showers on Tuesday morning, as seen by the Hi-Res NAM Model posted below.

At this same time, a cold front will be moving through the region as well. This will help keep temperatures at bay for the next few days. You can see the effect the cold front has on air temperatures, as well as dewpoint temperatures across the region. This will make conditions feel the best they have in some time now!

On Wednesday, ridging will continue to build out to the west of the region. That will overspread high pressure across the region, leading to fair conditions. Northerly flow across the region will lead to continuing cool temperatures in the forecast.

Extended Outlook

With the extended outlook, a large ridge will develop across the central United States. With this large of a ridge in place, heat will inevitably come with it.

Conditions beneath the ridge will be downright hot for the end of the workweek and into the weekend. Summer is on its way for a few days folks!
