Today: Partly cloudy, with isolated afternoon storms possible. Highs around 84°F. Tonight: Isolated storms possible, with a low around 62°F.
This is honestly the most interesting forecast period that I can remember in quite sometime!
I am fairly excited, but there is one thing you should not be excited about: the summertime airmass heading out way. By this afternoon, you’ll likely feel like you’re walking out into a sauna when you go outside!
We will be firmly established within the warm sector that is sandwiched between a storm to our west, and the shortwave to our north, and the latter of the two is what will impact our weather today. What you’ll find is that temperatures are likely to warm into mid 80s across the region through mid afternoon. This, combined with an increase of dewpoints into the mid 60s, will create a fairly unstable atmosphere across the region.
By the evening time, it looks as if we will have a weak shortwave moving towards the region. Even a weak shortwave could spark off some storms across the region, and that is what you’ll have to watch for. I think a lot of the activity will be to our north, but we could still see an isolated storm or two. The SPC has our northern counties in a Marginal Risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening.
Overnight, look for temps to cool back down into the lower 60s with an isolated storm possible.
Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy, with thunderstorms possible. Highs around 77°F. Wed. night: Mostly cloudy, with thunderstorms possible. Lows around 64°F.
You know the severe weather occurring to our west today? The trough that is creating that set up will head east tomorrow!
Don’t fret, though. The trough will be weakening fairly quickly once it gets to us. However, that doesn’t keep it from inducing some thunderstorms and pushing them towards us, which looks likely. The clouds and precip associated with this look to keep temps only in the mid 70s tomorrow.
There could be some isolated strong storms across the area, but overall, out threat is limited. Overnight the best forcing will exit off to our east, leaving us with isolated storms and lows falling into the mid 60s.
Thursday: Partly cloudy, with isolated storms possible and highs around 84°F. Thur. night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62°F.
Ahh, ridging. Ridging will once again be the dominant feature across our region heading on into Thursday.
This will keep us warm, and nice. Now, it does appear that some weak, lower level shortwaves may propagate into the region during the day on Thursday. In an unstable environment, this may spark off isolated storms into the afternoon hours. Otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies and highs in and around the mid 80s.
Overnight, the ridging becomes more established, and we should just see partly cloudy skies, with lows only falling to the lower 60s.
