Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Good morning, Bowling Green! It is officially the weekend, and not just any weekend… It’s the last weekend before Christmas!

Kids are all out of school, while shoppers are busy checking off the rest of the names on their lists. If you are one of those shoppers out and about in Bowling Green today, at least the weather will be cooperative!

While we have dropped about 20 degrees since Wednesday, conditions will remain dry today and tomorrow thanks to building high pressure. This will allow for clear skies as well, with the sun hopefully making the 40s feel a bit warmer!

Due to ridging in the upper-atmosphere, a “warm-up” will begin today. “Warm” may sound a little deceptive in this context because we are staying in the 40s, but Friday marked the coldest day of the week. We’ll be inching closer to the normal high for this time of year today, with temperatures continuing to increase through next week.

As for tonight, clear skies will give way to another chilly evening, with temperatures dropping below the freezing mark.

Sunday, 12/20 – Mostly Sunny – High 56˚ / Sunday Night – Mostly Cloudy; Rain Showers – Low 45˚

Temperatures will continue to be on the rise Sunday, ahead of an approaching low pressure system to the west. Even as high pressure moves off to our east, we will continue to stay dry for the majority of the day with rain chances only coming into play during the late evening hours.

These rain chances will continue and become more prevalent into the overnight hours. Temperatures Sunday will hit the mid-50s, only dropping into the mid-40s overnight.

Monday, 12/21 – Rain Showers – High 59˚ / Monday Night – Rain Likely – Low 50˚

The arrival of the front will make for a rainy Monday, as widespread showers are likely for much of the day. Highs will make it close to the 60° mark, with temperatures continuing to increase for at least the first half of the week.

Rain will also continue over the first part of the week as waves (disturbances) ride in from the south, so keep your umbrella handy! Temperatures Monday night will stick around 50°.
