Rain on the Way

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today – Mostly Cloudy – High 76˚ / Tonight – Sct’d Rain Chances – Low 67˚

Howdy, Bowling Green! Today’s weather is gonna seem a lot like yesterday with temperatures reaching the mid-70’s under mostly cloudy skies with a light, south wind. However, a change is coming as rain chances ramp up late Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Forecast valid Thursday 18Z

An upper-level trough in the southwest with an accompanying surface low pressure system moving east from the Rocky Mountains will be the main “weather-maker” the next few days. As this cold front moves eastward into our region, it will bring rain and cooler temperatures with it. Thursday evening temperatures are still going to be in the mid to upper 60’s with increasing chances of rain, but the temperatures will cool down by tomorrow night.

The western portion of Kentucky could see some showers and storms late Thursday evening, but most of the storms will be occurring Friday morning.

Friday – Showers and Storms – High 74˚ / Friday Night – Rain Decreasing; Mostly Cloudy – Low 50˚

Unfortunately, Friday is the day where we see the most rain. The models have this line of storms weakening as it moves eastward across Kentucky with most of our rain coming before noon. The SPC has Kentucky under a marginal risk for Friday morning for damaging winds. We will be keeping a close eye on this and will continue to update the blog with new information, so keep checking back in for more information regarding Friday’s weather.

Friday night lows look to be near a very cool 50° under mostly cloudy skies. The rain chances definitely start to decrease in the afternoon and are almost gone by Friday evening. I’m not going to completely rule out a stray shower or two, so continue to keep the umbrella handy.
