Hot and Humid Bowling Green Weather

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today, 6/10 – Sunny – High 92˚ / Tonight – Mostly Clear – Low 69˚

Good Wednesday morning to you! After what started out as a stormy workweek will remain fairly stagnant over the next few days. Hot and humid conditions are expected, with scattered afternoon thunderstorms possible later this week.

Today seems as though it will be a pretty great pool day, but that’s about it. Sunny skies and southerly winds will cause temperatures to rise into the 90s, with dew points in the mid to upper-60s. A high pressure system is pretty much parked to the southeast of Kentucky, allowing us to remain dry and highs to soar.

It will be a hot and sweaty one, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids and take extra precautions this week! High humidity and temperature values contribute to even higher “heat indices” or how the temperature feels to the human body – our bodies feel warmer in humid conditions than in arid conditions. This is due to the change of rate of perspiration with the changing amount of moisture in the air (NOAA).

There will be some relief overnight, with temperatures dropping to about 70° under mostly clear skies.

Thursday, 6/11 – Mostly Sunny; Clouds Increasing – High 91˚ / Thursday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 70˚

Thursday looks to be much of the same, as a summer-like pattern sets up for our week. With the exception of some possible clouds building into the area later Thursday afternoon/evening, tomorrow basically looks to be a repeat of today. Temperatures will be in the low 90s, with dew points approaching 70° and winds beginning to pick up from the south in the afternoon.

Thursday night, partly cloudy skies will keep temperatures around 70° for our low.

Friday, 6/12 – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storm Chance – High 90˚ / Friday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 70˚

Plenty of moisture will be streaming into our area by Friday, increasing our chances for thunderstorms. These will be scattered and driven by afternoon convection, so some areas may remain dry. However, “dry” does not make conditions any better – The atmosphere will remain very wet, with dew points hitting about the same point they have Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures *may* be just a bit cooler Thursday due to a slight increase of clouds and scattered storms, but will continue to hit right around 90°. It’s definitely going to feel like summer out there this week, so stay hydrated and stay smart!
