Beautiful Through Wednesday; Storms Thursday & Friday

This Afternoon – Sunny & Breezy – High 80˚ / Tonight – Clear & Cool – Low 40˚

Well, there’s really not too much to say about our weather this afternoon, besides it being incredibly amazing.  If you have a hammock…yes.  That’s all you need to know.

Sunny skies will accompany highs in the upper 70s (80˚ perhaps?) across south central Kentucky through late afternoon, before plummeting to around 40˚ tonight under clear skies.

Wed 4/1 – Sunny & Beautiful – High 72˚ / Wed Night – Iso’d Showers – Low 55˚

Another amazingly beautiful day.  It will be a perfect day for mowing the lawn, and believe me, I know it’s time to mow.  My yard looks like young forest at the moment, but by the time this week is over, it may look like a jungle.  I’m still getting caught up from vacation, if you couldn’t tell.

This is possible in my yard right now, except with my dogs playing the role of the cats.

Thu 4/2 – Scat’d Storms – High 81˚ / Thu Night – Showers & Storms Likely – Low 60˚

Southwesterly flow will really amp up across the area on Thursday, which will pump our atmosphere full of warm, moist air.

A cold front will approach from our northwest, with marginal instability parameters ahead of it entertaining the idea of a few linear waves of thunderstorms developing, which will eventually move through the area from late afternoon through early Friday morning.  The NAM 4km simulated radar model below is valid for 7pm Thursday:

This front will take its sweet time crossing the area, keeping showers and storms in the forecast through the longevity of our Thursday night and Friday.  The most likely time frame for the strongest storms to move through will be from Thursday afternoon into the early morning hours of Friday.

The Storm Prediction Center has included all of south central Kentucky in a marginal risk for severe weather through this time frame.  Although unlikely, we can’t rule out a few cells meeting severe criteria.  The convective outlook from Thursday morning through Friday morning is provided below:

This is not anticipated to be a widespread event.  The biggest threat with this system will be damaging winds and hail.
