Wednesday Morning Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today 2/11 – Mostly Sunny – High 54º / Tonight – Cloudy and Windy; Isolated Snow Showers – Low 22º

Good Wednesday morning! I’ve got some good news and some bad news for you… Good news is that today will be beautiful, complete with warmer than normal temperatures and mostly sunny skies! Bad news is that this unseasonably warm snap won’t last long, thanks to a cold front that will be move in tomorrow, with drastic temperature changes coming in behind it.

Let’s focus on the good news first. Today, thanks to early morning high pressure and southerly winds, along with some sunshine, temperatures look to break the 50° mark by the afternoon. Highs will soar into the mid-50s for south central Kentucky before the cold air hits us once again.

Both the cold air and moisture will lag behind the passage of the cold front during the afternoon hours. Winds will shift toward the northwest by late evening, allowing much colder air to pour into the area overnight.

Temperatures tomorrow night look to drop into the low 20s with wind gusts up to 20 mph. An increase in low level moisture – combined with cold temperatures – could bring us some isolated snow showers, but no accumulation is expected. However, any precipitation that falls will stick and could cause some slick spots.

Thursday 2/12- Isolated Snow Showers; Windy – High 27º / Thursday Night – Partly Cloudy and Cold – Low 12º

As for Thursday, a slight chance for isolated snow showers will linger throughout the day. Tomorrow will be much colder with temperatures not even expected to make it out of the upper-20s…

On top of that, winds will be blowing from the northwest 15-20 mph for a good chunk of the day, causing it to feel even colder. Wind chill values could hit the single digits. Basically, be sure to bundle up if you’re heading out Thursday, because it will not be the most enjoyable day weather-wise.

The cold weather will continue into to the overnight hours Thursday, with temperatures falling into the lower teens under partly cloudy skies.

Friday 2/13 – Mostly Sunny – High 33º / Friday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 22º

High pressure will begin to build in late Thursday and into Friday, allowing for mostly sunny skies for the end of the workweek. Temperatures will return to values above freezing (woohoo!)- but barely. Highs both Friday and Saturday will be in the low 30s under mostly sunny skies.

Temperatures will drop back into the low 20s for Friday night. Valentine’s night will bring frigid temperatures to Bowling Green (dare I say single digits?), but I won’t talk about that too much quite yet. Enjoy the weather today while you can!
