Bowling Green’s Christmas Weather Update

A low pressure system will continue its track northeastward today as wrap around moisture keeps shower activity for much of southern Kentucky. Winds will remain gusty at times through tonight as the pressure gradient force tightens up on the back side of this low. Strong westerly winds around 10-15 mph will be expected with gust up to 30 mph at times.

The good news is we’ll see the showers finally come to an end as the aforementioned low pressure clears the Ohio Valley. Cloud cover will decrease tonight as winds calm. Lows will drop into the upper 30’s late tonight. There’s no doubt Santa will fight the gusty conditions early on, however winds will work into his favor by early Christmas morning. Mother Nature cooperates quite nicely for our Christmas holiday. Highs will be seasonable for this time of the year as thermometer readings reach the mid 40’s. Partly sunny skies will be the case through the afternoon hours as skies eventually go clear Thursday night. Lows will drop into the lower 30’s for Bowling Green weather. Fri – Mostly Sunny; Pleasant – High 54º / Fri Night – Increasing Clouds; Sct’d Showers (Late) – Low 42º

Surface high pressure will build into the Ohio & Tennessee Valley Region’s by Friday as mostly sunny skies prevail. Temperatures will be quite pleasant with highs climbing back into the low-mid 50’s. Unfortunately, this nice weather will be short-lived.

Cloud cover will increase Friday night as shower chances enter our forecast once again for the weekend. A low pressure system and its attendant cold front will slide across the Central Plains before eventually impacting the Commonwealth. Showers will break out for our Saturday and Sunday as a couple more soggy days appears to be in store.
