While overcast conditions have prevailed to start out another work week, at least we’re doing so on a warmer note. An approaching cold front has allowed winds to shift more from our south-southwest helping to bring in warmer air along with some moisture. In return, afternoon highs have hit the low-mid 50’s across southern Kentucky along with some scattered showers.

Unfortunately, the remainder of your evening and tonight will feature this cold front swinging through the state while keeping rain chances alive. While totals are nothing to brag about, up to a 0.25” will be possible statewide. The front will trek eastward by early Tuesday morning as precipitation clears west to east. Clouds hang around through tonight with mild lows in the upper 40’s.

Tue – Mostly Cloudy; Cool & Breezy – High 52º / Tue Night – Decreasing Clouds; Cold – Low 32º

The departing cold front will work towards the mid-Atlantic region by Tuesday morning. A few lingering showers early on remains possible, but look for conditions to dry up rather quickly. It appears our high temperature will occur early on Tuesday before winds turn more northwesterly while ushering in cooler air.

Otherwise, look for a mainly dry day as breezy conditions pick up by afternoon. Cloudy skies will win out for much of the day before decreasing in coverage by Tuesday night. Temperatures will steadily drop into the 40’s by Tuesday afternoon before bottoming out into the lower 30’s for lows.

Wed – Mostly Sunny; Chilly – High 42º / Wed Night – Mostly Cloudy; Rain/Snow Shower – Low 32º

Surface high pressure will briefly make its presence known by mid-week with mostly sunny skies expected. Cooler air will settle in as high temperatures only top out in the lower 40’s for Bowling Green weather.

The sunny skies will be short lived for our Wednesday as more clouds move into the area. A weak, quick hitting upper level disturbance will slide across the Tennessee Valley bringing a few rain, even snow showers to south-central Kentucky. It should be noted that this system will have to overcome some relatively dry air among the lower levels of the atmosphere. This will only make things more difficult for any precipitation to actually fall.

With a lack of any real deep moisture along with drier air among the lower levels, look for only a few rain/snow showers at best. No accumulation is expected as this event will remain very weak in nature. Lows will drop right around freezing mark for Bowling Green weather.
