Sunday Morning Weather Update

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 11/23 – Showers & Thunderstorms; Breezy – High 61º / Tonight – Cloudy; Scattered Showers; Breezy – Low 52º

6am 52º – 9am 54º – 12pm 58º – 3pm 61º – 6pm 58º

Well, our great weather is coming to an end as the upper-level ridge that was keeping us warmer will shift east early this week. Behind this ridge, an upper-level trough will move over the eastern U.S and usher in colder air.

Surface low pressure associated with this trough will track from Texas to Missouri today and expect some decent rainfall in our area as a result. A warm front is expected to lift northeast across the state today and spread some shower and thunderstorm activity into our area later this morning. Showers will increase in coverage and intensity throughout the day and it looks like there is even enough instability to cause a few rumbles of thunder this afternoon.

Southerly surface winds will increase in intensity this afternoon and we can expect sustained winds of 10-20 mph this afternoon with gusts to 30 mph. These winds will remain gusty overnight as shower activity lessens in coverage. Overall, expect around an inch of rainfall to occur by tomorrow morning, with the heaviest rainfall occurring this afternoon.

Monday – AM Showers; Clearing Skies – High 55º / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 33º

Shower activity will continue tomorrow morning as the surface low tracks off to our northeast. A cold front is expected to push east across the state mid-morning tomorrow. Once the cold front moves east, we can expect an end to the rain and skies will become partly cloudy by tomorrow afternoon.

Cooler temperatures will also move in behind the front and temperatures will approach freezing tomorrow night under partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday – Sunny, Colder – High 46º / Tue Night – Mostly Clear – Low 26º

Expect much quieter weather behind the cold front on Tuesday. Skies will mostly clear throughout the day and overnight. Unfortunately, it’s back to the colder temperatures on Tuesday as highs will struggle to reach the middle 40s and lows will drop into the middle 20s.

It’s beginning to look like our weather will remain calm, but cooler over Thanksgiving weekend.
