3pm 43º – 6pm 40º – 9pm 38º – 12am 36º – 3am 35º – 6am 32º

A Freeze Warning is in effect for Butler & Warren County on Saturday from 4am – 9am.

It’s been a rather spooky day across southern Kentucky as a strong low pressure system and its associated cold front works through the region. More scattered showers will be expected this afternoon/evening with another round late tonight.

With the frontal passage, winds will really pick up from our NW with sustained readings around 10-20 mph (gust up to 35 mph at times). Wind chill values will make temperatures feel like the lower 30’s during this period before dropping into the 20’s tonight.

As this unseasonably cold shot of air crashes into the Commonwealth, a second wave of precipitation (as mentioned above) will work southeastward around midnight or so. The latest model guidance keeps a bulk of the rain/snow just to our east in central and eastern Kentucky. It will be those folks that have the best chance for seeing the white stuff. However, we cannot rule out a few rain/snow showers here in Bowling Green. Don’t worry, no accumulation is expected.

The NAM thinks a rain/snow mix occurs just to our east.

Now…..onto the GFS. A little bit more bullish with some light frozen precipitation further westward.

GFS (12Z) – Valid Midnight – WeatherBell

Both the GFS and NAM are on board for a nice dusting across the heart of the Commonwealth with more in SE KY.

Overall, a cold and blustery night is expected while trick-or-treating looks to be a chiller for all those goblins out there. Lows will eventually bottom out right around the freezing mark by early Saturday morning with a wind chill in the low-mid 20’s. Nonetheless, be sure to bundle up with all the winter necessities over the next 24-48 hours.

Sat– Mostly Sunny; Cold – High 46º / Sat Night – Mostly Clear; Areas of Frost – Low 26º

A Freeze Warning is in effect for Butler & Warren County from Saturday at 10pm – Sunday 8am.

Any lingering precipitation will be well to our east as cloud cover finally begins to clear out. Despite seeing mostly sunny skies by Saturday afternoon, temperatures will feel more like winter. Highs will struggle to reach the mid-upper 40’s as Canadian High pressure works towards the Ohio Valley.

Breezy northerly winds will make things even colder as wind chill values give feel-like temperatures in the upper 30’s. Brrrr. By the evening and overnight period, winds will finally calm as skies remain clear. High pressure will situate itself near the Ohio River as another cold night prevails. Lows will dip into the mid 20’s with areas of frost likely.

Sun – Sunny; Chilly – High 51º / Sun Night – Partly Cloudy; Cold – Low 34º

Not a whole lot changes by the end of the weekend. Highs will slowly work into the lower 50’s by Sunday afternoon as high pressure provides plenty of blue skies and sunshine. The overnight period will feature a weakening high pressure system as it begins to move eastward while a few clouds build into southern Kentucky. Overnight temperatures will remain on the cold side with readings in the low-mid 30’s.
