Tuesday Afternoon Weather Update

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Partly Cloudy – High 72° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 51°

Good afternoon, cloud cover from the cold front that moved southeast across the state earlier is beginning to break up. The latest visible satellite imagery shows skies trying to clear across central Kentucky.

Behind this surface front, high pressure to our north will help to push these clouds out of our area this evening. Winds will turn to the north behind the front and a deep upper-level trough will keep our temperatures around ten degrees below normal today.

Tonight’s low temperature will be dependent on the amount of cloud cover we see overnight. Partly cloudy skies will yield lows in the lower 50s, but if we see more clouds than expected low temperatures could be a few degrees warmer.

Wednesday – Partly Cloudy – High 75° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 53°

High pressure will really settle in to our north tomorrow and a beautiful day can be expected. Skies will be partly cloudy with afternoon highs reaching around 75º…perfect.

The axis of the upper-level trough dominating our weather will have shifted off to the east slightly, but we will still be in a northwest flow aloft, hence the below-normal temperatures. Calm weather will continue overnight as lows drop into the lower to middle 50s under partly cloudy skies.

Thursday – Partly Cloudy – High 77° / Thur Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 54°

Thursday’s weather pretty much looks like a repeat of Wednesday. Another beautiful day is in store with the only difference being temperatures a degree or two warmer as an upper-level ridge begins to nose in from the west. Check out the latest run of the NAM model which predicts a large ridge to be positioned over the central Plains on Thursday night.

This ridge is expected to keep pushing east on Friday. Looking ahead, temperatures look to reach 80º again by Friday with a few rain chances possible later in the weekend.
