Geomagnetic Storm to Produce Northern Lights Display

Earth’s space weather has been active today as the solar wind is responsible for a minor geomagnetic storm across the Northern Hemisphere. The main area of impact for this geomagnetic storm will be the North Pole and the storm’s strength is rated at a G3 (strong).

The main impact from this geomagnetic storm will be a vivid Aurora Borealis display, otherwise known as the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights may be visible as far south as the north central United States and high-latitude locations will see a much brighter display than normal.

One thing is for sure, expect some amazing pictures of the Northern Lights from the northern latitudes tonight.
