Heat Still Dominating; Isolated Storms Possible

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 8/25 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 91° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy; Muggy – Low 70°

Our hotter temperatures will continue this week. That persistent upper level ridge and high pressure system will continue to dominate the weather story across the region. The upper level high should greatly suppress thunderstorm chances across the region despite warm, humid conditions. Thus, isolated thunderstorms can be expected during the afternoon hours after a high around 91°.

Conditions will not improve much for the overnight hours. Although the temperature should drop to 70° overnight, muggy conditions will remain in place. For this reason, some spotty thick fog can be expected during the overnight hours despite mostly clear skies above.

Tuesday 8/26 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 92° / Tue Night – Mostly Clear; Muggy – Low 69°

Our hotter temperatures will continue this week. That persistent upper level ridge and high pressure system will continue to dominate the weather story across the region. Deja vu? Basically. It’s a simple rinse and repeat forecast for Tuesday. Our high temperatures may be a bit warmer. Expect highs to be in the low 90s across the region. Isolated thunderstorms are still possible in the afternoon hours, but coverage should remain pretty limited.

We’ll see lows drop into the upper 60s across the region, but conditions will remain pretty muggy. Thus, some patchy fog is still possible.

Wednesday 8/27 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 92° / Wed Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 68°

Wednesday will be a bit of a hard forecast. The center of the upper level high pressure system will be back to our southwest. This may allow for a bit more lift in the atmosphere. The latest NAM model has picked up on this a little. I like the idea of this, so I’ll include a chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms. This will again occur after a high temperature in the low 90s.

I think we may see some thunderstorms continue in the overnight hours. Coverage remains in question being greater than 48 hours out from the event. Quite a bit can change, so I’ll stick with isolated thunderstorms. Expect a low in the upper 60s across the region.

That should wrap up this post. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX for all the latest weather details. Have a great day and stay cool!
