Around Kentucky, heat advisory criteria is met when there is a chance that the heat index may exceed 105°, although the criteria varies by region. The upper level-ridge responsible for this August heat will keep hot temperatures in place through early next week. Hopefully the extended temperature forecasts from the CPC are correct, as they show the ridge retreating late next week and near-normal temperatures returning in the next two weeks.
