“Bowling Green Bubble”…Myth-Busted?

I don’t think the “Bowling Green Bubble” will ever catch an episode on MythBusters, which is unfortunate because it would be the perfect episode for a show called MythBusters; Can the BG Bubble Burst?

If the episode did air, the map below would be hard evidence that it is in fact, a myth. We’ve had plenty of rain the past few days, and much needed rain at that, and a lot of it fell directly over Bowling Green.

The map below depicts precipitation totals over the last 4 days.

If there was indeed a bubble over Bowling Green, it seems to have lost its mysterious powers.

On a broader, more important view, the precipitation as of late has had very positive effects on the drought situation. Here’s a look at the past 7 days over Kentucky.

Very beneficial rainfall across the region will likely cause the map, below, to make a change in the right direction. However, much of it came very quickly and in localized areas. We’ll see what happens.

For now, it seems, the “Bowling Green Bubble” has receded. Unfortunately, I’m afraid, its just a bubble in our imaginations, (and a good excuse for a Twitter hashtag… #BGBubble). It doesn’t always go around us, folks!
