You couldn’t draw up today’s weather any better. Mostly sunny skies have prevailed once again for our Independence Day as the surface high pressure continues to work eastward across the Great Lakes Region.

This feature will keep us dry and cooler with plenty of sunshine for the remainder of the afternoon and evening. A nice light northerly breeze will carry on into the evening hours before calming just after midnight. In return, temperatures will cool quickly after sunset as lows eventually bottom out in the mid 50’s. If you’re out and about later tonight, keep that light jacket handy. Otherwise, enjoy those fireworks!

Sat – Mostly Sunny; Nice – High 84º / Sat Night – Mostly Clear; Chilly – Low 60º

The first part of the holiday weekend will mimic our Independence Day as sunny and pleasant conditions win out. High pressure will situate itself right over the Ohio Valley Region as winds begin to shift from the east-southeast. This wind shift, while minor, will help bump temperatures up into the mid 80’s by the afternoon hours.

With slightly warmer temperature readings, dewpoint values will still remain in the upper 50’s, low 60’s as drier air hangs on one more day. Nonetheless, conditions will feel great throughout the day with another clear and cool night on tap.

Sun – Mostly Sunny; Warm – High 89º / Sun Night – Partly Cloudy; Mild – Low 66º

The aforementioned surface high pressure will begin to work eastward putting our region back into the summer conditions we’re more accustomed too. Southwesterly winds will begin to pump moisture and warmth back into the area allowing temperatures to flirt with the 90 degree mark.

An upper level trough will continue to cross the Midwest as moisture continues to increase Sunday and into early next week. A weak frontal boundary will slide through the area Monday as showers and storms will begin to initiate across southern Kentucky. The latest guidance seems to keep this pesky boundary around mid-late week as daily storm chances seem possible. Temperatures will remain warm and muggy (as expected) with highs in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s.
