Monday Morning Update

Real-time Radar:

Today 6/30 – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d T’storms – High 90º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 73º

6am 71º – 9am 80º – 12pm 86º – 3pm 89º – 6pm 88º

Good morning, we’ve seen a few stray showers over the past few hours that have moved east out of our area. The weather will be quiet the rest of the morning and temperatures will start rising as we are on our way to seeing a hot one. Our high temperature today will be around 90 degrees, but dew points in the 70s will make it feel like it is in the mid to upper 90s. Do whatever it takes to stay cool..

This heat will help to spark some isolated thunderstorms across the area this afternoon. You know the drill, if you get caught under one of these pop-up storms watch out for some heavy downpours and lightning. These storms will die off quickly this evening and overnight we will see temps fall into the lower 70s with partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday 7/1 – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d T’storms (A few severe) – High 93º / Tuesday Night – Mostly Cloudy, Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 73º

Tomorrow looks to be pretty interesting as a weak cold front attempts to cross the state. Ahead of the front, it will be another hot and muggy day as temperatures reach into the lower 90s with heat indices around 100 degrees.

The front will help to spark some isolated thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and evening. These storms will have lots of instability to work with in this warm air mass, but the best wind shear will be just to our north. Regardless, some of these storms could be severe with the main threats being damaging winds and hail, in addition to heavy rain and lightning.

The SPC has placed our area in a slight (enhanced) risk for severe weather tomorrow:

Isolated storms will continue overnight, but these storms should begin to weaken after midnight.

Wednesday 7/2 – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d T’storms – High 89° / Wednesday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 68°

It looks like the cold front will stall out somewhere across the state on Wednesday which will keep storm chances in our area. The severe threat will push to the east as we will be in a much drier air mass. The front won’t do much as far as cooling us off as highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees, but dewpoints will be lower which will make it feel much more comfortable.

Isolated thunderstorms are still a possibility Wednesday night as we will be underneath an upper level trough behind the front. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies with lows in the upper 60s.

That’s all I’ve got for this morning. Be sure to check back in with us later today to stay updated with regards to tomorrow’s severe weather potential. Otherwise, follow @WxOrNotBG and@WarrenCountyWX on Twitter for real-time weather updates. Have a great day.
