Calmer Weather On The Way

Real Time Regional Radar:

————————————————————————————————————

Today 6/11 – Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms – High 78° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 66°

We missed out on the severe weather yesterday, which is good news. There was quite a bit of damage reported across eastern portions of the state. It turns out that the thick cloud cover spared us from the heavy weather. Clouds will once again be in the forecast as the main trough will remain just west of the region. This will again allow for afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

We are not expecting any severe weather, however any storms that do form will be capable of producing heavy rain and numerous lightning strikes. The trough should move through the overnight hours, with upper level ridging moving into place behind the trough. This will generally bring more dry, stable air into the region, ending precipitation. Expect partly cloudy skies with lows in the mid 60s.

Thursday 6/12 – Partly Cloudy – High 80° / Thur Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 68°

On Thursday we’ll continue to see that upper level trough move east with ridging moving into the region. This will continue to stabilize the region and we’ll see nice weather. You should be able to expect partly cloudy skies most of the day, with perhaps a shower in the morning. Highs will be around 80°.

On Thursday evening we’ll see a cold front approach the region from the west. As of now, I am expecting dry conditions for the region. But, isn’t rain and thunderstorms usually associated with cold fronts? For the most part, yes. However, this cold front will be pretty moisture starved due to the departing system. Thus, we’ll likely see partly cloudy skies with lows in the upper 60s.

Friday – Some Showers – High 79° / Friday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 65°

The Friday forecast! OMG I know!

Yes! The forecast for Friday is here. You know what that means, right? It’s just three days until Friday and the weekend! However, that doesn’t mean it’s an easy forecast. We’ll have some upper level  troughing just to the west of the region, which will provide for some lift in the area. Lift = clouds and precipitation.

However, some models differ in regards to the precipitation forecasts. Some models actually build in some ridging into the region, which would keep most of the region dry. For now, I’m going to go with some showers in the area, however they shouldn’t be too widespread. Highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s.

We’ll see the precipitation decrease as night falls. Expect partly cloudy skies overnight with lows sitting nicely in the mid 60s.

That should wrap up this post. Be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX for the latest weather information.
