The end of the work week has offered Bowling Green a good mix of sun and clouds as comfortable conditions have prevailed for our Friday. We can thank the surface high pressure over the Great Lake region for the drier and cooler air.

A light east-northeasterly breeze will continue to filter in these comfortable conditions as our Friday evening will shape up to be a nice one.  Partly cloudy skies will hang tough for tonight as a stationary front sits across the Volunteer State. Most shower activity should remain to our south with a dry night on tap. Yep…that’s worth a celebration.

Sat – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storm – High 86º / Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 69º

The aforementioned surface high will weaken and work east of the Great Lakes Region by Saturday afternoon as the next system begins to develop to our west. The latest data continues to hint towards a low developing across the Central Plains before tracking eastward into the Ohio Valley late Saturday night.

Despite rain chances increasing late Saturday, the first part of our weekend is shaping up to be a nice one. A warm front is expected to lift northeastward Saturday afternoon/evening as partly sunny skies win out with highs reaching the mid 80’s.

As mentioned before, rain and storm chances will increase late Saturday night/early Sunday as the atmosphere will provide some moisture and instability. Due to the warm front, overnight lows will be mild as any storm activity is expected to remain non-severe. Check out the predicted surface map for a better idea of this set up.

Sun – Mostly Cloudy, Sct’d Storms – High 84º / Sun Night – Mostly Cloudy, Sct’d Storms – Low 66º

By early Sunday morning, the system will begin to push through the Commonwealth while bringing plenty of rain along with it. The latest precipitation forecast shows a moderate rainfall event occurring for portions of south-central Kentucky where Bowling Green could see up to an inch of rainfall. While severe weather is not anticipated; a few storms could be on the stronger side as heavy rain will be the primary threat.

Periods of heavy rain will raise concern as these conditions could lead to some localized flooding for the area. Mostly cloudy conditions will prevail for the latter part of the weekend as the long term forecast hints towards more daily storm chances with muggy conditions returning.
