Severe Storms Possible Wednesday

Real Time Regional Radars:

————————————————————————————————

Today 6/3 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 86° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 68°

We’ll once again see some isolated thunderstorms across the region today. We’ll see some drier air begin to enter the area over the course of the day. This will actually limit the thunderstorm threat across the region. However, there will still be a chance for a couple isolated thunderstorms.

Overnight, we’ll see thunderstorms diminish in coverage. So, we’ll be left with partly cloudy skies in the overnight hours, along with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Wednesday 6/4 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 90° / Wed Night – Scattered Strong/Severe Thunderstorms – Low 74°

On Wednesday, we’ll see a fairly robust storm system shape up across the Ohio Valley. We should see storms ongoing somewhere in the mid Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley on Wednesday morning. These thunderstorms may grow in size throughout the day. By evening and into the overnight hours, I expect widespread thunderstorms across the region.

Some of the storms could be strong to severe, as we’ll have high instability and adequate flow aloft. A cold front will be sweeping southward across the region. This front may stall out around Bowling Green, which could cause some concern for flash flooding on Wednesday night as storms move over the same region. The overall severe weather threats are damaging wind, hail, and even some isolated tornadoes.

The Storm Prediction Center is monitoring our region for the potential for severe weather. As of now, they have outlined our region in a slight risk of severe weather. Stay tuned.

Thursday 6/5 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 79° / Thur Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 64°

In the wake of the cold front’s passage, drier air will filter into the region. This will help diminish the rain threat. However, the frontal position may shift a tad back north on Thursday, so we certainly can’t rule out any thunderstorms on Thursday.

Coverage of thunderstorms should remain fairly limited, and most of the region will remain dry with the current forecast. We can expect lows to be in the mid 60s as thunderstorms diminish as well as cloud cover. No thunderstorms? I think we can welcome that. Get the dog, and make the happy dance happen.
